Please read the following information carefully and ensure that you meet all the minimum entry criteria before applying.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ATHLONE INSTITUTE BURSARY

• You must be a South African citizen.
• You must be a permanent resident of Paarl or Mbekweni OR a parishioner at one of the five member churches of the Athlone Institute Trust (AIT).
• You must be a member of one of the member churches, of the AIT, or a member at any bona-fide denomination/ religious institution in Paarl or Mbekweni.
• You must have completed matric and obtained a matric certificate.
• You must prove financial need.
• You must have a proven strong academic record.
• You must be enrolled to study towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, on a full-time or part-time basis, for the current year.
• You must be enrolled to study at a tertiary institution (TVET College/ University/ University of Technology) registered with and accredited by the Council for Higher Education.
• If you are currently studying, you must have passed your previous year of study.
• You must be willing to partake in community service within the Paarl/ Mbekweni area.
• You must be willing to partake in the mentoring programme.

Please ensure that you have all of the following documents (scanned, uploaded and saved to the computer / laptop / a USB Flash Drive) before starting the application. Certified copies may not be older than three (3) months.

• ID document (certified copy).
• Proof of registration at tertiary institution (certified copy).
• Proof of registration fee payment for the current year (certified copy).
• Proof of residence.
• Parents / guardians / own / spouse’s recent pay slips (certified copies) OR sworn affidavits if they are unemployed.
• Full Academic record (certified copy).
• Student Account Information (to be completed by the Tertiary Institution).  Download form HERE.
